Alloy A286?? has high strength and good corrosion resistance; therefore, it is used for applications at temperature up to 1300?? F. Alloy A286?? can be hardened and strengthened by heat treatment. Alloy A286?? has been used in jet engines, superchargers, turbine wheels, blades, casings, afterburner parts, and fasteners.

Available forms are seamless pipe, welded pipe, seamless tube, welded tube, bar, wire, sheet, plate, forgings, pipe fittings and flanges.

Specification:

Inconel 718 Square Bars accounts for up to 50 % of the weight of aircraft turbojet engines, being the main component for discs, blades and casing of the high pressure section of the compressor and discs as well as some blades of the turbine section. The precipitation of this nickel – (aluminum, titanium, and niobium) phases in Inconel 718 Flat Bars is induced by heat treating in the temperature range of 1100 Degree F to 1500 Degree F. This is the preferred treatment in tensile – limited applications for Inconel 718 Threaded Bars as it produces the best transverse ductility in heavy sections, impact strength and low temperature notch tensile strength. Common Applications of Inconel 718 Hollow Bars: Jet engine components, Oil & gas, and Gas turbine operations. Inconel 718 Hexagonal Bars has good mechanical properties – tensile, fatigue and creep – rupture. Inconel 718 Triangular Bars is often used in aerospace, rocket motors, space shuttles, spacecraft, nuclear reactors, turbo pump seals, tooling and pumps. Inconel 718 Bars has excellent weldability when compared to the nickel – base super alloys hardened by aluminum and titanium. The results indicated that the fine – grained ring forgings can be obtained by forging the fine – grained Inconel 718 Rods.

Incoloy Alloy® A286 is an iron-based superalloy useful for applications requiring high strength and corrosion resistance up to 1300??F (704??C) and for lower stress applications at higher temperatures. The mechanical properties of this alloy are developed by suitable solution annealing and precipitation hardening treatments. Alloy A286 is non-magnetic.

This alloy has excellent high temperature oxidation resistance and is designed to maximize creep and stress rupture properties, with some reduction in strength. A-286 material can attain high strength levels when aged after cold work, and has wide application in high temperature fasteners and springs.

Super alloys or high performance alloys are of three types that include iron-based, cobalt-based and nickel-based alloys. These alloys can be strengthened by precipitation hardening, solid-solution hardening and work hardening methods. Super alloys contain good oxidation and creep resistance and are available in varied shapes. These alloys can function under high mechanical stress and high temperatures and also in places that require high surface stability. • It is used in the petroleum industry for applications such as gas well components, valves and tubing, as well as finding use in high-strength piping systems.

• Conventional machining techniques used for iron based alloys may be used. This alloy does work-harden during machining and has higher strength and "gumminess" not typical of steels. Heavy duty machining equipment and tooling should be used to minimize chatter or work-hardening of the alloy ahead of the cutting. Most any commercial coolant may be used in the machining operations. Water-base coolants are preferred for high speed operations such as turning, grinding, or milling. Heavy lubricants work best for drilling, tapping, broaching or boring. Turning: Carbide tools are recommended for turning with a continuous cut. High-speed steel tooling should be used for interrupted cuts and for smooth finishing to close tolerance. Tools should have a positive rake angle. Cutting speeds and feeds are in the following ranges: For High-Speed Steel Tools For Carbide Tooling Depth Surface Feed Depth Surface Feed of cut speed in inches of cut speed in inches inches feet/min. per rev. inches feet/min. per rev. 0.250" 25-35 0.030 0.250" 150-200 0.020 0.050" 50-60 0.010 0.050" 325-375 0.008 Drilling: Steady feed rates must be used to avoid work hardening due to dwelling of the drill on the metal. Rigid set-ups are essential with as short a stub drill as feasible. Heavy-duty, high-speed steel drills with a heavy web are recommended. Feeds vary from 0.0007 inch per rev. for holes of less than 1/16" diameter, 0.003 inch per rev. for 1/4" dia., to 0.010 inch per rev. for holes of 7/8"diameter. Milling: To obtain good accuracy and a smooth finish it is essential to have rigid machines and fixtures and sharp cutting tools. High-speed steel cutters such as M-2 or M-10 work best with cutting speeds of 30-40 feet per minute and feed of 0.004"-0.006" per cutting tooth. Grinding: The alloy should be wet ground and aluminum oxide wheels or belts are preferred.

• This alloy has good ductility and may be readily formed by all conventional methods. Because the alloy is stronger than regular steel it requires more powerful equipment to accomplish forming. Heavy-duty lubricants should be used during cold forming. It is essential to thoroughly clean the part of all traces of lubricant after forming as embrittlement of the alloy may occur at high temperatures if lubricant is left on.

Annealing:

• Anneal at 1850 F for at least 2 hours at temperature, air cool.

Aging:

• Solution anneal at 1900 F to 1800 F and air cool. Aging is done at 1350 F for 8 hours, furnace cool at 75 F per hour down to 1175 F and hold at 1175 F for at least 12 hours then air cool..

Hardening:

• May be hardened by heat treatment - see "Heat Treat" and also hardens due to cold working.

Inconel 625 is a nickel based Superalloy with excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion, in & conditions ranging from jet engine propulsion systems to chemical processing of oxidizing and reducing acids. The nickel-chromium matrix of Inconel 625 is reinforced by the addition of molybdenum and niobium, which is alloyed through solid solution strengthening, and this allows it to maintain high strength and toughness at temperatures ranging from cryogenic up to 2000 DegreeF (1093 DegreeC). It is non-magnetic, austenitic, and displays high tensile strength, fabricability, and brazeability. Due to its high nickel content, this alloy is nearly immune to chloride ion stress-corrosion cracking and pitting, which is commonly found in metals in seawater applications like heat exchangers, fasteners, and cable sheathing.
