Resistance to Corrosion:
  • Corrosion resistance of Type 17-7PH stainless steel in all heat treated conditions, like other types of stainless steels - will develop superficial rust in some environments. For example, in a marine atmosphere, stainless steels show evidence of rusting after relatively short exposure periods. However, after exposure of one or two years, the amount of rust present is little more than that present at six months. As with all martensitic steels, 17-7PH stainless steel may be subject to cracking when exposed under stress in environments containing hydrogen sulfide. Such applications are not recommended.

In general, wear resistance can be improved by increasing the hardness of our Aluminium 5083 Slatting Coils, by specifying an alloy by means of greater carbon content (without increasing hardness), or by both. These Aluminium 5086 Perforated Coils, which has good mechanical properties both at ambient and elevated temperatures of up to 930 Degree F (500 Degree C), is readily fabricated using the common industrial techniques. Low – temperature impact tests (to -50 Degree F) in our Aluminium Steel 5052 Plates are useful for many applications as toughness indicators under various service conditions and temperatures. Our ability to provide these Aluminium Steel 6063 Coils on a project basis is one of our strongest capabilities and is also unmatched in our industry. Restricted carbon plus columbium stabilization in our Aluminium Steel 7075 Slatting Coils permits welded fabrications to be used in corrosive environments, normally without post – weld heat treatment. PH 13-8 Mo stainless is a martensitic precipitation/age-hardening stainless steel capable of high strength and hardness along with good levels of resistance to both general corrosion and stress-corrosion cracking. In addition, the alloy exhibits good ductility and toughness in large sections in both the longitudinal and transverse directions. The excellent properties of PH 13-8 Mo stainless are obtained through close control of chemical composition and microstructure plus specialized melting which reduces impurities and minimizes segregation. Compared to other ferrous-based materials, this alloy offers a high level of useful mechanical properties under severe environmental conditions. 13-8 Mo stainless has good fabrication characteristics and can be age-hardened by a single low temperature treatment. Cold work prior to aging increases the aging, especially for lower aging tempratures. 13-8 Mo stainless has been used for valve parts, fittings, cold-headed and machined fasteners, shafts, landing gear parts, pins, lockwashers, aircraft components, nuclear reactor components and petrochemical applications requiring resistance to stress-corrosion cracking. Generally, this alloy should be considered where high strength, toughness, corrosion resistance, and resistance to stress-corrosion cracking are required in a steel showing minimal directionality in properties. *PH 13-8 Mo stainless is a registered trademark of Armco Inc.

Elevated Temperature Use:
  • PH 13-8 Mo stainless has displayed excellent resistance to oxidation up to approximately 1100°F. Long-term exposure to temperatures between about 600-900°F (288-482°C) can result in reduced toughness in precipitation hardenable stainless steels. The reduction in toughness can be minimized in some cases by using higher aging temperatures. Short exposures to elevated temperatures can be considered, provided the maximum temperature is at least 50°F (28°C) less than the aging temperature.

Incoloy 925 Slim Coils is used in a variety of different applications where high strength and corrosion resistance in sour gas environments is important. Appropriate nickel content in Incoloy 925 Coils offers protection in opposition to stress – corrosion cracking chloride – ion whilst in combination with the additional copper and molybdenum resistance to plummeting chemicals is relished. These Incoloy 925 Plates (UNS N09925) is a nickel based alloy comprising Chromium and Iron as major accompaniments, and also add – on of Titanium, Aluminium, Molybdenum and Copper. Meanwhile, Incoloy 925 Slatting Coils are also being offered in different sizes and shapes to our customers. The resistance of these Incoloy 925 Perforated Coils is developed by the precipitation of the gamma phase through solubilization and aging heat treatment, so as to maintain ductility and toughness at high levels. Conventional machining techniques used for iron based alloys may be used, which protects Inconel 925 Sheets in reducing and oxidizing environment. Titanium and aluminum in these Inconel 925 Plates form part of the precipitation hardening reaction that greatly increases hardness and strength of the alloy.
